The Environmental Sanitation Institute (ESI) was established in 1985 under the guidance of Shri Ishwarbhai Patel and strives to provide a better quality of life to rural people and the urban poor through improved sanitation.

Taking this work forward and to work towards inner sanitation, several retreats have been taking place here to evoke the spirit of ‘Vasudhev Kutumbkam’ (world as one family) and is now lovingly called 'Maitri Space'
